The 991.1 GT3 is unfortunately known for its 2014/2015 engine issues and subsequent recalls. All 991.1 GT3s were originally supplied with ‘E0’ engines. The earlier cars were recalled and fitted with revised ‘E1’ engines, addressing the original connecting-rod issues, while later cars received further engine revisions incorporating updated DLC-coated camshafts, finger followers and an updated oil pump.
As part of the recall, this car received an ‘E1’ engine. It subsequently returned to Porsche, where, at considerable expense to the previous owner, the camshafts were replaced with the later DLC-coated specification.
This means the car benefits from the later camshaft specification and provides additional peace of mind to the next owner.
